haha. i officially declare this my AUGUST post.
this picture i took in LA. currently my biggest impression of LA is the road, the butt of the car in front, and the big blue sky. that's how much time we spent on the road.
i exaggerate. but i really do like this picture. and things left in my com run the risk of disappearing ANYTIME, so might as well put it online.
this is a photo of youths in hope north america. that is hope chicago, seattle, irvine, la, and vancouver. plus a singaporean chap and torchie, from hope brisbane.
there are college students, high school students, pastors' children, members' children, international students, (most aren't caucasian if you realise) and so on and so on and so on.
i spent the last night of camp teaching some of them how to play hai dai. (1,2,3... HAI DAI AH HAI DAI. HAIDAI AH HAIDAI.) shh. don't tell ps ben :P.
i realise.... youths are youths. some things just don't change across space. somehow they had the notion of staying awake the entire last night of camp. and somehow they knew how to play mafia (slightly different. but mafia nonetheless.) and they have the same problems.
like there's this guy A (seriously. his nickname is A) who's president of the christian club in his high school. he was sharing with me like how people don't want to come for meetings for dumb excuses, how some guys in the club are.... weird which makes others think twice about joining. very much like what we face.
he asked me a question that stunned me for a moment. (btw its quite hard to notice when i'm stunned cos i take a while to respond even when i'm not)
"so when did you get serious about God?"
-stunned pause- (lasts about 0.5s longer than my normal pause)
"uh. don't quite remember. think it was during some camp a few years back"
"ahh. that happens a lot. was the same for me too"
"ayee. there's something special about camps isn't there"
yes the conversation sounded as boring as it looks.
but really... the "when did you get serious" question has its own special meaning when asked between youths. don't you think?

hehe. even though i've been so out of touch with studies and school and all... i actually felt i could help them. (my GOSH harry actually felt something). yea. youths around the world are quite the same.
haha okay. that's the end of my august post. it has nothing to do with the title cos initially i had something else in mind. but this post is long enough as it is. and i think i'll let that thought dwindle a bit longer in my mind first before i write it down.
bytheway, zach, if you ever visit hope melbourne, go find ps mark rusic. i think you'd enjoy his company. his visions, convictions and all. according to him his favorite quote is that Jesus said "go and make, not go and wait" (disciples that is).
harry out.
